I get all types of questions about the rise & shine bellybowls process.
If you don’t see your question answered below, please email me at
info@bellybowl.com.
Q. What makes your rise & shine bellybowls belly mask technique unique?
A. Unlike other belly masking techniques that use plaster, stone, or bronze casting, rise & shine
bellybowls are made of artist’s clay. This medium offers parents (and in some cases their other
children) a fun and easy way to participate in the bellybowl creation.
Q. When is the best time to make a bellybowl?
A. Between 35 and 38 weeks since the mother is reasonably comfortable sitting for a bellybowl
session and her belly has the fullest form.
Q. How long does the bellybowl take to make?
A. First, the one-hour session includes initial consultation about theme, colors, and uses. The
bellybowl time on the belly takes about 15 minutes. It’s up to the partner how much time they need
to finish the feet. Second, it takes 2-4 weeks to complete and ship your bellybowl.
Q. Is the bellybowl process harmful to the mother or baby?
A. No. rise & shine bellybowls are made of non-toxic clay. The finishing glazes are applied after
the session and when fired are non-toxic. For sensitive skin, plastic wrap can be used between
your skin and the clay. If you have any specific concerns about participating in a bellybowl, consult
with your obstetrician prior to making an appointment.
Q. What should I wear to my bellybowl session?
A. Since the bellybowl only covers your stomach area, you do not need to be naked or shave any
hair. The clay does not stain clothing or embed in cloth like plaster. You will, however, want to
“dress for mess”.
